Both film and music were recorded by Roberto Opalio at home in Torino, Italy on November 1st, 2005; the artist set his 8mm camera on the balcony and filmed his own glass art creation entitled 'The Angel of Glass' animated by the soft light of a candle under a blackened sky. MY CAT IS AN ALIEN will perform two exclusive live international premières at ALL FRONTIERS music festival (Italy). One with 80 years old pioneer of Italian radical electronic music ENORE ZAFFIRI. Mr.Zaffiri, composer and founder of the legendary SMET (Studio di Musica Elettronica di Torino) in 1964, and reclused artist for the last decades, at the beginning of 2008 had the chance to meet Maurizio and Roberto Opalio and decided to set up a collaborative project with them.

ROBERTO OPALIO & MY CAT IS AN ALIEN will participate to the forthcoming SONIC YOUTH etc.: SENSATIONAL FIX museum exhibition, that focuses on the multidisciplinary activities of the groundbreaking experimental guitar band Sonic Youth since its formation in 1981. It features the band's collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, designers and musicians, as well as a choice of other works selected by the band. Through the multidisciplinary output of Sonic Youth and related works by other artists in the exhibition, an alternative history of contemporary culture is being uncovered in which the division between 'high art' and 'low art' is being called into question, while issues are explored such as teenage rebellion, adolescent wanderlust, gender, fame, fashion, sexuality, and religion.

ROBERTO OPALIO will present an exclusive installation entitled 'Alien Guitar Case #6', and his film 'Alien Blood' with soundtrack appositely created by MY CAT IS AN ALIEN.

The exhibition is initiated and curated by freelance curator Roland Groenenboom in collaboration with the band and will be presented at LiFE, St. Nazaire, France (from 17 June to 7 September 2008), MUSEION, Bolzano, Italy (from 10 October 2008 to 4 January 2009), and Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, Germany (31 January to 26 April 2009). - In June 2007, Important Records (USA) will release the debut CD of BLACK MAGIC DISCO, a new all-star band featuring Tom Greenwood (Jackie-O Motherfucker), Ramona Ponzini (Painting Petals On Planet Ghost, Praxinoscope) and Maurizio & Roberto Opalio (MCIAA). The project was born out of the idea of Tom Greenwood, former leader of the avant-folk-blues ensemble JOMF, who invited Maurizio and Roberto Opalio and their close collaborator Ramona Ponzini to join him as line-up performers for two months of touring throughout all Europe in May/ June 2005. The album will contain the music which came out from those explosive live performances --

- Maurizio & Roberto Opalio have just finished working on the final mix & mastering of the second full-lenght album of PAINTING PETALS ON PLANET GHOST, project featuring the two space brothers together with Ramona Ponzini; the album will consist of a series of acoustic and intimate songs imbued with the enchanting Japanese vocal tunes by Ramona --

Directly from the most remote and obscure regions of the Cosmos, Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka MY CAT IS AN ALIEN, are proud to announce a new series of split art-LPs set up on their own Opax Records. The series of collaborations, entitled "Cosmic debris", will see the space duo alongside artists such as Stan Brakhage's films mixed media performing ensemble TEXT OF LIGHT (Lee Ranaldo, Christian Marclay, Alan Licht, William Hooker, Tim Barnes, Ulrich Krieger, Dj Olive), Californian audio visual artist and composer STEVE RODEN, Swedish avant-saxophonist MATS GUSTAFSSON, avant-blues living legend LOREN MAZZACANE CONNORS, and Japanese dark shaman improviser KEIJI HAINO.

Each record will be released in a numbered and signed edition of only 100 copies, and will come out alongside an acrylic painting by ROBERTO OPALIO on 30x30cm proper canvas as sleeves, with a unique Polaroid installed on each piece, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject.
Each volume's photographic subject will be strictly related to the cosmic imaginary of My Cat Is An Alien.

The opening OPX LP8 - MY CAT IS AN ALIEN / TEXT OF LIGHT "Cosmic debris" split ART-LP Vol.1 will be available in late May/ early June 2006. The following volumes will come out as bimonthly releases.

- Roberto Opalio' next full-lenght soloist work "The last night of the Angel of Glass" will be release in late 2005 on American Digital Industries/ Foxglove label: it will be Roberto's first release on DVD-r support, featuring one of his films alongside his new soloist musical work; it will come together with a CD-R containing only the musical soundtrack-- Still on the same label a new MCIAA's CD is due sometime in Spring 2006--
- Important! Records (USA) will release "Cosmic Light of the Third Millennium", a new work by MCIAA, in early Spring 2006;
- The first MCIAA's release on an Italian label is due later this year on the new A Silent Place records-
- A new MCIAA's limited vinyl LP entitled "Listen before Black falls" will see the light on Root Strata, the San Francisco-based label run by Jefre Cantu of Tarentel, and is due in late 2005--

08/04/2005 - Roberto Opalio and Ramona Ponzini have started their new project called Praxinoscope, with the homonymous CD-R on Opax Records; "Alien Minds", the first MCIAA's cassette release, is just out now on Belgian label Sloow Tapes (see "releases" for details).

06/20/05 - The Wire t-shirt of the month (#257, July 2005) features Roberto Opalio’s original piece of artwork entitled “alien_vinyl_astral_interconnection”- The t-shirt comes in a special ltd run of 100 only!

- The San Francisco based KFJC Radio will broadcast a 4-hour-long special entirely dedicated to MCIAA on Saturday the 21st of May, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The special, conducted by DJ Terry Tike, will feature a long interview by phone to Opalio brothers, as well as a mini-line MCIAA’s performance, and other short talks with some of the artists involved in the “From the earth to the Spheres” split series. - The Christina Carter/ MCIAA split LP vol.5 is out now, featuring Carter’s first recording of her new duo project with Andrew MacGregor.

-“The Sound Projector” magazine 2005 issue (#13) is out now, featuring a 5-pages article/interview to MCIAA by editor Ed Pinsent.
- The Chicago based Rococo Records label will release a new MCIAA’s work entitled “There’s a flame_ _ _sometimes”; this is going to be a special only-vinyl edition, due in Summer 2005.

02/01/2005 – On the 22th of February, MCIAA will make an audiovisual performance at Fri-Son , Fribourg (Switzerland); they’ll play in quadraphonia in the center of a room, with the public all around and the interaction of screenings filmed by the brothers. Featuring Kodama and MNortham..
- The new exclusive MCIAA’s album on CD format, entitled “Through the reflex of the rain”, is out on the San Francisco-based Free Porcupine Society label; Mr. Rob Fisk, one of MCIAA’s favourite American illustrators to date, is the direct responsible for the original artwork, on special silkscreened gatefold cardboard jackets.
- A new couple of cd-rs are out on Opax Rec: “On air at Sound Projecting”, an improv performance that MCIAA recorded live at Ed Pinsent’s “Sound Projecting” radio show, broadcasted on Resonance 104.4 fm, London (Dec. 10, 2004), and a new soloist work from the brother Roberto Opalio, entitled “Chants from isolated ghosts”.
-The “From the earth to the Spheres” split LPs series vol.4 (Jim O’Rourke/MCIAA) is ready, and it will be an exclusive release of the Opax Rec vinyl series.
- MCIAA will appear with a 10 min previously unreleased track on the first Rebis compilation, “Time and Relative Dimensions in Space”, which will also feature long-form drone works from Taurpis Tula, Number None and more.

09/25/2004- MCIAA spent some days in some mysterious locations in Western Alps mountains, where they recorded the first work as PAINTING PETALS ON PLANET GHOST, their new side-project trio featuring Ramona Ponzini singing in traditional Japanese. This recording will be issued on vinyl format by TIME-LAG RECORDS (USA) in Spring 2005-

08/10/2004- SONIC YOUTH invited MCIAA to perform at the opening date of their European tour at La Batie Festival in Geneve (CH). The show will take place on August 26th at the prestigious Victoria Hall, a theatre considered the temple of classical music in Switzerland… SY/MCIAA will be the first rock bands performing there…

08/03/2004-in early 2005 LAST VISIBLE DOG label (USA) will issue a special triple CD set of the complete “The Cosmological Eye Trilogy" sessions, including pt.1 + pt.2 (originally released on Opax Records as ltd. ed. cd-rs), together with the previously unreleased pt.3 & lots of other unissued material-
- MCIAA will split a vinyl LP alongside Danish droneoutfit Family Underground. The record will be released as a ltd ed of 200 copies on Christian Staadsgaard’s REVERSE label in Copenhagen (DK) in early 2005-
- MCIAA proudly announce their first 7” format, a special lathe-cut edition handmade by the well-known Newzealander Peter King in a run of 50 (!) copies, which will be released by the Norway-based Sindre Bjerga’s GOLD SOUNDZ label at the end of the year-

05/05/2004- We’re starting on our own OPAX RECORDS label a new series of special split LPs entitled “From the earth to the Spheres”- We'd like to create a "space" of collaboration between MCIAA and some of the improv bands/artists we most like and estimate for pushing the music forward, towards the heart of the Cosmos-
We conceived each vol. as a special ltd. SPACE ART edition of 100 copies only!! The "sleeves" will be proper 31x31cm Roberto Opalio's original paintings on wood, in space-materic style... a piece of galaxy put together w/ a vinyl!!
Each split vol. will present the guest band/artist on A side, and MCIAA on B side-
Thurston Moore will open the series w/ vol.1 (out July 2004)- Next vols will feature Thuja, Jakie-O Motherfucker, Jim O’Rourke, Christina Carter, Glands of External Secretion (w/ Nels Cline), and Christian Marclay-
